Why these five
Every one of them is a question we were asked before anyone wanted a price. People do not start with "what does tree removal cost" — they start with "am I allowed to", "is that my hedge or theirs", "will the tip take this", "is that tree too close to my wall" and "is it the wrong time of year".
So the tools answer those questions properly, including when the honest answer is "only your council can tell you". None of them asks for an email address, and the postcode you type stays in your browser.
What they will not do
They will not tell you a tree is unprotected — there is no national register, so no website can. They will not quote a council's fee, because those change and a wrong figure is worse than none. And the subsidence checker is not an engineering assessment; if money depends on the answer, pay for a survey.
Where we can only point you at the authoritative source, that is what we do. Links to council pages were checked on the date shown on each tool.
